Spring Clean Your Workout Routine

Spring is almost here! That means warm days perfect for enjoying the beach, swimming in a nearby spring, or participating in the other great outdoor activities Gainesville has to offer.  Spring’s coming is also more incentive to not give up on those New Year’s resolutions and to get more active. Working out and staying active is always better with friends.  Gainesville boasts a diverse social fitness scene.  Groups meet all over Gainesville with the goal of intergrating living an active lifestyle with socializing.  Hopefully you can find a group you will enjoy!

Gainesville Meet-Ups:

Gainesville Adult Co-Ed Social Kickball: Plays every Wednesday at 7 PM.  For $39, you play on a co-ed team (join one or create your own) for 8-weeks that focuses on meeting new people while enjoying kickball.

Paddle Florida: This group plans five camping and canoeing trips a year to the five Florida water management districts.  They offer gear transport, camaraderie, meals, and more.

Weight Loss Challenge: Meets every Tuesday night to complete a 6-week weight loss challenge. Coaches help participants meet their weigh-loss goals.

Get Fit Gainesville: The walking group meets every weekday at 9:30 AM and at 6 PM every weeknight you can participate in a group workout.  Different guest workshops on nutrition and other group fitness sessions are available.

Creative Exercise Groups:

Easton Foundation Archery Center: You can take 6-week archery classes that improve your skill level.  Classes and camps for kids are also available.

Florida Swing Dancing: Offers swing dance lessons Monday and Friday nights for all skill levels and hosts formal dances for you to practice with others.

Hot Hula Dance Classes: Meets Monday Nights with the first class being free and $7 after that.  Instructors teach Hawaiian and Tahitian hula routines.

Gainesville Cycling Club:  Join different riding groups that bike across some of the most beautiful parts of Florida. Most groups meet at 9 AM to start their ride.

Gainesville Dojo: Kickboxing, Yoga, Karate, Kung Fu, Kenpo, Jiu-Jitsu, Kali, and Boxing are all offered at different times with different levels of instruction.

Group Fitness/Gym Environments:

Swamp Fitness: This in-home personal training program offers 75% off their regular prices when training with friends.  They offer a health & fitness support group that holds you accountable with texts/calls and helps you meal plan.

Crossfit Gainesville: With coaches and goal-based programs, CrossFit offers a community of other members to help you stay focused while having fun.

Sweat Life Fitness Studio: Their GroupFIT program provides an hour long group workout in Kanapaha Park.  They also have a stadium class at The Swamp.
