Local Highlight | Valentine’s Day

No matter how long or short the time you and your Valentine have been together, it's been said that the ultimate Valentine’s gift is time spent together. While the ultimate Valentine’s Day date for some couples may include flowers, dinner, and a movie, (which Gainesville offers plenty of) my perfect day tends to be off the beaten path. I love a day trip filled with site seeing and dinner at a local restaurant. I’m also a big fan of experiences that are just a little outside the norm.

If you are looking to get away for Valentine’s Day, or are up to trying something outside the ordinary, there is no shortage of options in and around North Central Florida.

Outside the box experiences:

The “Splatter Date” is a unique, unique experience you will never forget!

Have a blast, and bring home a masterpiece. $99 for two people includes:

  • Private Splatter Room™
  • 1 large or 2 small canvases
  • “Glow Upgrade”(glow-in-the dark painting experience!)
  • Chocolates for two
  • Two glasses of champagne

Why settle for ordinary when you can do something Axe-traordinary? After all who doesn’t want to throw some axes? If you’re looking for something different then this is it. A once of a kind experience while making axe-cellent memories!

Scenic destination offering nine zip lines, two rope bridges & a rappel, plus horseback riding.

Day-cation Dinner Destinations:

A casual restaurant located on the Gulf of Mexico!

Follow in the Blue Stairs to Happiness. You can't find better food, drinks, or music in Cedar Key!

Perry, FL: 2 for one

Perry is a bit of a haul, however, there are a ton of great scenic back roads that will lead you there. If you decide to make the trip you will want to be sure to check out both of these gems.

Family-owned bakery serving donuts, baked good, and other mom and pop favorites.

Established in 1961!

Deals has grown to become one of the most well- known food establishments in the North Florida area. People travel from all over the United States to enjoy our fresh oysters on the half shell, gulf shrimp, bay scallops, blue crab claws, fish, steaks, chicken and more

A family friendly restaurant, with a hometown feel, serving locally caught seafood.

If you decide to visit The Shrimp Boat, be sure to plan dinner before or after the sunset. There’s nothing prettier to me than a Florida sunset and the one at the point does not disappoint.

No matter what adventure you pick, I hope you and your Valentine will slow down and enjoy some time together.
