What the Free?! – May 2022 

It’s officially May! We’re almost half way through 2022. Have you achieved some of the new years resolutions you set out for yourself? If not, it’s okay, it’s not too late!

Enjoy time outdoors at the Newberry Watermelon Festival! This free event on Saturday, May 21 from 9am to 3:30pm features crafts, food vendors, a  

 

parade, beauty pageant, family activities, and of course lots of watermelon!

Every weekend in May, check out the Sunshine Zoological Preserve Spring Festival. They will be featuring crafts, swings, play area, sensory path, roping area, agricultural demonstrations, a petting zoo, and more fun for the whole family.

Free for children under three, this is the place to be! Celebrate World Tree Kangaroo Day and bring the whole family out to the zoo to learn about Matschie’s tree kangaroo, an endangered species native to a small area of Papua New Guinea on May 21st from 9am to 3pm. Kids can participate in kangaroo themed crafts and adults can sample Papua New Guinea coffee!

Join in on the big hog roast party thrown by Gainesville Harley Davidson! There will be smoked hogs, activities for kids, live music, and lots of local vendors. Don’t miss it on May 21 from 12-4pm!

Enjoy the Blue Crab Festival in Palatka where they will be featuring kids rides, great music, and food trucks on Memorial Day weekend!
