Don’t forget about making repairs to these areas before you start your painting, because it will make your paint job look perfect. Wood putty will typically take care of the job. Make sure you let it dry completely and then sand it to a smooth finish.
The quality of paint is also an important decision to make. You may have all the time in the world to paint yourself, and if that’s the case, an inexpensive brand may be for you. But if you don’t want to paint several coats, be sure to use a high-quality paint. You may pay more up front, butyou will be grateful you did, when you don’t have to paint an entire house several times.
Of course, we can’t forget about the exterior door. If you have a solid corewood door you can use the same paint on the interior Side of your exterior door, as you use on the interior trim and doors. Prep your solid core wood door the same as you would your wood trim. If you have a steel door, automotive bondo will cover dents and gouges. You’ll also want to sand these down to smooth finish before painting.
