Although your property manager should have general liability insurance and errors and omissions insurance, they are not protected from problems against the home. They assume the same level of risk that homeowners do but they don’t have the insurance to protect them. Property managers are not protected against burglary, fire, someone falling, and any other issue that occurs on the property not directly related to their services. Adding your property manager as an additional insured, not as additional interest, will protect you and your property manager should an issue occur. Depending on the insurance company, there may be a fee associated with adding them to your policy. You are free to shop around and find a company that does not charge for the service.
