Language: Most important tool to influence people

Remember in business, every word is important .  One form of miscommunication is mismatching. This comes from a disagreement driven by both parties desiring to win. See if you can identify these four types next time you reach an impasse with a customer:

  • The Contradiction –no matter what you state the customer needs to contradict it
  • The Unnecessary Clarification – the customer “autocorrects” all of your statements
  • One Upmanship – the customer has a “bigger, better” story for every one of yours
  • The Dreaded “I Know” – the customer that knows everything

Check in tomorrow to see how to lay your pride aside and neutralize mismatched communication.
