Up for vote on November 4, a proposed one-percent sales tax is estimated to raise $240 million over 8 years. With a backlog of an estimated $380 million in transportation projects, this tax is a proposed solution to provide the funding necessary to complete the projects. With 95% of the revenue allotted to road reconstruction and repavement, the county hopes to to improve its worst roads like Tower Road and County Road 241 South including filling in sidewalk gaps, adding turn lanes, and enhancing bus services.
