One of the best parts of living in Gainesville is how often the community comes together — festivals, cultural celebrations, outdoor gatherings. Check out some of these free events, get out of the house, and enjoy meaningful experiences together without spending a dollar.

Saturday, January 25 | Depot Park

Gainesville’s most iconic festival returns with a full day of medieval magic. Enjoy roaming performers, musicians, knights, artisan vendors, and immersive shows that spark imagination for kids and adults alike. The atmosphere alone makes this a must-do, and admission is completely free.

Friday, January 31 | Depot Park

Bring a blanket and settle in for a free outdoor family movie night under the stars. Depot Park hosts seasonal movie screenings that are perfect for kids of all ages. The open lawn, relaxed vibe, and downtown setting make this an easy, low-stress evening outing.

World of Wonder: Cultural Celebration Day

Depot Park Pop-Up Arts & Crafts Festival

Saturday, February 8 | Depot Park

Local artists and makers take over Depot Park for a free, walkable arts festival featuring live demonstrations, interactive booths, and kid-friendly creativity stations. This event is perfect for families who enjoy browsing, hands-on fun, and supporting local talent.

Love Our Parks Day – Family Volunteer Event

Saturday, February 15
 | City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs

Teach kids the joy of serving the community during Love Our Parks Day. Families are invited to help with light clean-up, planting, and beautification projects across Gainesville parks. It’s a meaningful, free way to spend the morning together while giving back.

Free doesn’t mean boring and Gainesville proves that every month. Whether it’s a festival, a movie night, or a community celebration, these events offer simple ways to connect, explore, and create memories together.
