I can’t believe it’s already August! It is one of my favorite months - partly because it is my birthday month. However, it is also the perfect time for enjoying the great outdoors. The Florida humidity can sometimes be grueling and intolerable. That is why I highly recommend spending time enjoying the local lakes and springs.
August 31 is National Eat Outside Day. What better way to celebrate than grabbing your favorite Pub sub and relaxing by the water? Alachua County and the surrounding counties have plenty of gorgeous springs perfect for getting away a hot summer day. I highly recommend checking out one of the parks or beaches listed below!
Lake Alto
18795 NE 132nd Avenue Waldo, FL 32694
Lake Alto Park features 662 acres of unpaved trails with breathtaking views of the Suwannee River. The park is open from 8 am to 6 pm and features a dock accessible to watercrafts.
Blue Grotto
3852 NE 172 Ct Williston, FL 32696
Blue Grotto is another stunning clear water cavern in the heart of Williston. You can drive down to a depth of 100 feet of crystal-clear water where the temperature stays at a cool 72 degrees all year long.
Ginnie Springs
7300 Ginnie Springs Road, High Springs, FL 32643
There is of course the famous Ginnie Springs where children under 5 are admitted for free. Adventurous visitors are able to rent snorkeling gear and those looking to just lounge around can rent tubes. Canoes, kayaks, and paddle-boards can also be rented. Ginnie Springs is a great full-day adventure for the whole family.
Crescent Beach
If going to a lake is not your ideal past time or you consider yourself a beach person, Crescent Beach is just 1.5 hours away from Gainesville. This beautiful stretch of coastline is just south of St. Augustine Beach and offers a peaceful atmosphere. You might see some visitors riding bikes, playing volleyball, or even horseback riding. What better way to cool off for the day than catching waves while enjoying the salty breeze?
I hope you get to take a break from your everyday responsibilities to splash around at a local lake or take a stroll along a serene beach.
Sincerely,
Tianna Sousa, Property Manager
