We’re officially in the first month of fall! That means pumpkin spiced everything, crisp apples, and hopefully cooler weather. More importantly, FOOTBALL IS BACK! If you’re anything like me, you might also start decorating for Halloween early.
September is also a great month for some free events! I have listed some fun activities below to kick off the autumn season. Let me know if you were able to check out any of the events below and send us some photos for the next newsletter!
Check out some trails in Mill Creek Preserve! Located in Alachua, FL, this preserve features 5 miles of paths. Some of the featured trails are the easy 0.6 mile Marsh Trail, the 3 mile West Trail, and the 1.4 mile Providence Trail. This area features the southernmost extent of Appalachian hardwood forest, a small waterfall, and pine Flatwoods. American Beech trees can also be observed. This is a great spot for you and your pooch!
This festival is targeted towards kids from K-12 youth and their families to enjoy educational agriculture activities, games, prizes, and food. This event lasts from 9 am to 2 pm on October 16.
Join the World Equestrian Center for a fun, spooky night! You are welcome to dress up yourself and your dog as there will be exciting costume contests and prizes will be awarded. This event is on October 27.
Don’t miss the free Fridays concert series in Bo Diddley Plaza. The region’s longest-running free outdoor concert series features local and regional musical talent at Bo Diddley Plaza located in downtown Gainesville.
Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a free outdoor concert under the stars, featuring Chris McCarty on Friday, September 24th from 7:00pm to 10pm!
If you’re up for a road trip, check out this family-friendly outdoor festival in Jacksonville featuring local craft vendors, hand-made items, food trucks, and games for the kids. Oh and don’t worry, there will be pumpkins! This event takes place on October 23.
